If You Want to Play in Texas
You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band.
The more times change the more Alvin Crow remains the same. Maybe a little older and grayer around the fringes but still standing tall, playing the fiddle and entertaining Austinites with his music and wit. A native from Oklahoma, Alvin first played in public sitting in with The Oklahoma City Orchestra when he was a strapping lad of five years. I guess he was fond of the fiddle because he hasn’t slowed down a bit.
Let’s Dance never made it to Carnegie Hall but Alvin has as well he has been on a number of world tours with the Sir Douglas Quintet Band but we did catch him the other night at The World Famous Broken Spoke (where you still can’t get Grey Poupon). A dancers favorite, Alvin Crow and the Pleasant Valley Boys dish out two steppin’ jitter buggin’ songs of all types. Alvin knows what he’s doing and One More Time, he puts on a show in Austin. What is so neat about Alvin is he knows all the songs and knows how to mix ‘em all in. It seems he has played with everybody and everywhere. You are guaranteed to catch him once a month at the Spoke and frequently at Ginny’s.
Is Anybody Going To San Antone? Not me unless Alvin is there.
